What We Believe

The Trinity:
We believe one God is revealed in the scripture as Father, Son and Holy Spirit - the Trinity. Within the one "essence" of the Godhead there are three persons who are coequally and co-eternally God.

God The Father:
We believe that the Father is begotten of none. He is the eternal Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Author of salvation, the Father of all who are begotten into newness of life through faith in Christ.

Gen. 1:1; Ps.90:2;John 13:3,16:28;Eph.1:3-4;1 Pet. 1:2-3; 1John 2:23,3:1

Jesus Christ:
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; in His eternal generation from the Father; in His incarnation by which He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, thus uniting the divine and human natures in their completeness into the one unique person of Jesus Christ; in His sinless life and miraculous works; in His vicarious death to make atonement for the sins of the world; in His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father; in His sovereign power and lordship; in His present mediatorial ministry as the believer's Advocate ; in His future coming in power and glory.

Isa.53:6;Matt.28:18-20; Luke 1:35; John 1:1,14,18: Acts 2:22,24-32; Rom. 1:3-4, 8;34; 2Cor. 5:18-19; Eph. 1:19-22; Col.3:4; Tit. 2:13; Heb. 1:8, 4:15, 7:25; 1 Pet. 1:18, 2:22 and 24, 3:18; 1 John 2:1-2

The Holy Spirit:

Salvation:
We believe since all men are sinners and guilty before God and are dead in trespasses and sin and therefore are unable to save themselves, God has out of His infinite love given His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to become man's Savior. Everyone must decide individually whether to receive Christ as their savior. Once received we are a new creature in which a changed life and conduct follows a result of our love for Him.

Matt 1:21; John 3:14-17, 16:44; Rom.3:10-12,,19,20,23; Eph.2:1-3, 8-9

The Bible:
We believe that the Bible is divinely inspired and is the sole guide and authority for faith (John 8:58; 8:12-30). We also believe that the Bible, given by God's Spirit, is complete in itself and needs no additions. In fact, additions to the Bible are forbidden.

Ps. 119:9, 89, 105; Matt. 24:35; 1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 4:12; 1 Pet. 1:25; 2 Pet. 1:21

Things to Value

(an unconventional statement of belief)

We believe that a good friend is one of the greatest gifts you’ll receive.  There’s no doubt about it: the best mirror is a friend’s eye.  If you find someone who loves you enough to tell you the truth about yourself, hold on to that person.

We believe there’s nothing here on earth more important than family.  Learn to enjoy the little things that make your home a good place to be: a hug to start the day, an encouraging note slid under a bedroom door, warm laughter around the supper table, intimate talks and family prayers at bedtime.  The fact is that most of us are going to miss out on life’s prestigious honors.  But we’re all eligible for the small pleasures that make life truly worthwhile.  Treasure whatever time you have left with your family.

We believe that most of what we call our “busy schedule” God calls “diversion.”   We don’t have to be as busy as we are: we want to be.  For if we were less active, we might really look at ourselves and see the great gaping hole in our hearts and be terrified, because that hole is so big that nothing but God can fill it.  Surely it is a development of spectacular social significance that the very thing ancient saints and wise men loved and longed for is the same thing we inflict on our most desperate criminals as the cruelest torture our minds can devise - solitude.

We believe that all the answers you need for the real questions in life are in a book called the Bible.  When you’re out of touch with yourself you’re out of touch with everyone else.  And reading the Word keeps you in touch with yourself.

We believe most worries are reruns and a total waste of time.  Praying is always better than worrying, and it gets us in contact with a Power greater than ourselves.  The next time you’re tempted to lose sleep over something that’s bothering you, turn your worries over to God.  He’s going to be up all night anyway.

We believe the church is never going to be any stronger than the people who belong to it-and there’s not one of us without weaknesses.  Only one Man ever lived perfectly what He believed, so the rest of us should learn how to forgive and help each other when we fail.  We’d be wiser to say nothing than to criticize people who’ve already paid the consequences for the bad choices they’ve made.  The Church could do more good than any other organization on earth if it realized and lived by one simple truth: If you harshly judge people, you have no room left in your heart to love them.

We believe the only real enemy we’ll ever have is the evil one himself.  We can’t fall victim to hating any man or woman; we’re as fallible as the next person.  So we’ll save our anger for the demonic mind that delights in seeing babies die, children starve, soldiers kill and families break up.

We believe that you don’t grow until you hurt.  The deepest people around are the ones who have suffered the most and not let it destroy them.  Bitterness is never lonely; self-pity always tags along.  When you’re too busy feeling sorry for yourself you’re too nearsighted to see the lesson behind the suffering.  It’s impossible to lose if you learn from your defeats.

We believe the most important decision you’ll ever make is what to do about Jesus Christ. We are unashamed to proclaim by word and deed that all mankind has the opportunity to be reconciled to God through Him.
